One of best films I saw in 2010 was Lena Dunham‘s Tiny Furniture. Not only did she write and direct it, but she starred in it too. After seeing that I knew she was going to be very successful, and in April her new comedy series will launch on HBO.

Created by and starring Dunham, “Girls” is a comedic look at the assorted humiliations and rare triumphs of a group of girls in their early 20s living in New York. If you saw Tiny Furniture, some of the faces in the trailer below may look familiar, as the cast includes Jemima Kirke and Alex Karpovsky, along with Allison Williams, Adam Driver and Zosia Mamet. Not only did Dunham write and direct the pilot, but she also executive produces the ten-episode season alongside Judd Apatow and Jenni Konner.

Catch the series premiere of “Girls” on Sunday, April 15 at 10:30 p.m. EST/PST on HBO.
