Rockport Morgan Coast

I agree with Wiz Khalifa on most things, but I’m pretty sure you’re going to want to wear socks in these boat shoes. And colorful socks at that. Originally released in 1994, the Rockport Morgan Coast is back in a big way. This new limited edition release hearkens back to Rockport’s rich sailing history, as they updated the style for Spring 2012 with vivid sailing-inspired details. The Rockport design team scoured sailing schools in the Boston area to source a colorful vintage sail (approximately 170 square feet) and repurposed the cloth to be used as the fabric for the 200 limited edition pairs in two colorways.

Taking repurposed materials to the next level, Rockport also sourced an earth-friendly tanner for the leather and incorporated 10 percent recycled materials for the EVA midsole and rubber outsole, water-based cements, as well as a mesh lining and tongue made from 50 percent recycled materials.

The Morgan Coast includes many design cues and distinctive features found on a sail boat including oversized grommets with reinforced rubber gaskets, zig zag stitching on the upper, shoe laces that replicate nautical rope and ingenious hardware at the collar of the shoes which mimic pulley systems used in sailing. Each of the shoes will be individually numbered from 1 to 200, and all will be packaged in a special shoe bag made of sail cloth and canvas.

If you want to get your hands on a pair, both colorways of the Rockport Morgan Coast will be available March 1 on Rockport.com for $200.
