After being published in 1957, Jack Kerouac‘s landmark novel, On the Road, has finally been adapted for the big screen. Directed by Walter Salles (The Motorcycle Diaries), the film brings together an amazing cast – Sam Riley as Sal Paradise, Garrett Hedlund as Dean Moriarty and Kristen Stewart as Marylou – in a film that should feel contemporary, while remaining faithful to Kerouac’s seminal text.

Executive produced by Francis Ford Coppola, the film also features Kirsten Dunst, Tom Sturridge, Viggo Mortensen, Amy Adams, Alice Braga, Danny Morgan and Elizabeth Moss, as well as Steve Buscemi and Terrence Howard.

While no release date has been announced, On the Road will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
